Smart Innovation & Networking for Growth (SING) - Textile Manufacturing

The Chamber is delivering this event on behalf of the Smart Innovation and Networking for Growth (SING) project. This project is part-funded through ERDF and delivered by the iNet through Loughborough University

This is an informal networking event, over breakfast, where you will hear from a number of speakers on sector specific topics, relevant to the textiles manufacturing sector and beyond.

This particular event is kindly hosted by one of the UK’s leading suppliers of bespoke corporate clothing, Dimensions.

Dimensions have an international client base which is serviced worldwide, utilising best practices where a fully managed service is tailored to meet the individual needs of each client, ranging from 1,000 to upwards of 250,000 wearers.

Delivering extensive experience of effectively managing supply chains for different scales of requirement, the impressive client base is its best testimony, along with consistent achievement of 95-99% service levels which has established new standards within the industry.

  • Registration and light breakfast
  • Overview of the host company from Amelia Smith and Zoe Storey, Dimensions – looking at the development of the business, their markets, products and innovative approach to become one of the UKs leading suppliers of corporate clothing
  • Understanding Intellectual Property and Branding regulation and the potential changes due to Brexit - Jonathon Moakes, Intellectual Property Lawyer, Gateley plc
  • Combining technical & fashion textile yarns for new applications – we will hear from Kerry Walton Programme Director for Textiles: Innovation and Design at Loughborough University on how they have supported a local SME to develop their products to expand their market share, breaking into new markets - this will include a case study from the Lurex Company Ltd who are manufacturers of metallised polyester yarns. Their Managing Director Kit Blake will explain how they have used the knowledge base and support from the University to develop his products into new markets.

  • Innovation & Funding Support from The iNet Loughborough University, Dr Georgette Hall, Innovation Advisor, will be on hand to explain the range of funded support available through the SING* Project, this includes a mixture of fully funded access to expertise and co-operation with university research centres and institutes and part-funding (grant) towards external costs of innovation projects

*Managed by The iNet and based at Loughborough University SING will make it easier for SMEs to accelerate their development and implementation of new products, processes and services, as well as working with UK research institutes . The programme will operate from October 2016 through to September 2019.
